Staff Picks Trio - Meet Kevin!

Here at Big Spoon Roasters, we’re passionate about a few things—great food, preserving our planet, and perhaps most importantly, the good people behind it all. Lucky for us, our team is full of amazing individuals that make the magic happen on a daily basis, and we can’t think of any better way to share more about them than through their favorite nut butters—introducing our new Staff Picks Trio!

Our first Staff Picks Trio is curated by our Operations Manager, Kevin Drake. Kevin has been with Big Spoon for just more than two years, and we’re continually grateful for his positivity, quick humor, and kindness around our HQ. Whenever you receive an order, Kevin’s been part of it, whether making sure each recipe is dialed in to perfection, labeled just right, or packaged and sent to you with care.

Each of Kevin’s Trios includes one 13oz jar, each, of the following nut butters (his words about each one in italics):

  • Cashew Butter with Coconut Nectar: It has a velvety complexity to it that I've never experienced in any other nut butter. It’s sweet, but not too sweet, and might be my favorite of all our nut butters.
  • Almond Butter with Wildflower Honey: I love the simplicity of our Almond Butter—almonds, salt, and honey. It’s straightforward, simple, and delicious. I really enjoy using it in Mark’s pesto recipe.
  • Maple Cinnamon Peanut & Pecan Butter: I don’t have a story for this one—it’s just delicious. This is probably my favorite nut butter to taste test after it’s mixed and still warm.

When asked about his favorite part of working at Big Spoon, Kevin’s answer was multifaceted—the product we make (there’s none better); the people who make up our team, their stories, and friendship; and the variety of helping out where he’s needed—no two days are the same.

When he’s not at work, Kevin loves spending time with his wife and their kids, being outdoors, cooking, gardening, or watching sports (Go Hawkeyes!). One day, he hopes to own a hobby farm.

We’re grateful for Kevin and all the other incredible people who make Big Spoon, Big Spoon. Keep up with us on Instagram to learn more about Kevin and the rest of our team!
