Good Morning > Happy New Year

Write it on your heart that every day is the best day of the year. - Ralph Waldo Emerson

From Britannica: The solar year (365 days 5 hours 48 minutes 46 seconds), also called tropical year, or year of the seasons, is the time between two successive occurrences of the vernal equinox (the moment when the Sun apparently crosses the celestial equator moving north). Obviously, we use years to measure the passage of time, our ages, milestones, anniversaries, etc. Years are great that way. For many, entering a new one is a chance at rebirth, at transformation into something closer to the ideal, hence New Year’s resolutions.

I can get behind any resolution to inject more positivity into the world, increasing one’s skills, etc., but I think Emerson’s view is closer to my own: every day, or maybe every hour (or minute?), is a gift to be celebrated and lived fully. So, if you want to change something about yourself, don’t let the calendar decide when you do it. Go ahead. Today is the day. Happy New Year, all the same!
